Newcastle Fine Art Degree Show 2016

Newcastle University’s Fine Art BA Hons Degree Show previews on the 3 June at 7PM and will then run until 17 June. The Newcastle exhibition will exist across two venues this year, spanning the Newcastle University Fine Art Department and the Hancock Museum. The show will then go to London to be shown from 24-26 June at the Copeland Gallery, Peckham. The preview will be held on the 23 June 6PM.

As the culmination of four years work, the exhibition promises huge variation, featuring artwork across painting, printmaking, sculpture, performance, moving image and sound. Each artist has spent valued time exploring different avenues of artistic expression, arriving at this final exhibition with the ability to investigate and reflect upon their subject matter with skill and intent, producing resolute pieces of work.

For many exhibiting artists this show marks their entry into the professional art world and will provide an exciting glimpse into their future careers. It is surely not to be missed.

Giles Bailey, Newcastle University Fine Art Tutor says, ‘From my fortunate vantage point over the work-in-progress for this year’s degree show, an exceptional breadth of practice is promised. Truly, it is exhilarating to see so many diverse approaches.

Whether meticulous, exuberant, delicate, vital, monumental or minute, the work that this group of artists are producing is evidence of thoughtful, personal commitment to singular ideas and ingenious invention. I would urge everyone to make sure they do not miss the chance to witness such invested projects.’

Newcastle Fine Art Degree Show is kindly supported by the Bartlett Fund.
