Emily Garvey’s interests lie partially within the realm of the digital. Using 3D modelling software, she produces fantastical virtual worlds, which echo not only ideas of paradise but also well-known mundane environments, of which we are all familiar. With the use of the unstable green screen chroma key, portals are made for small, costume wearing, humanoid characters to reside inside these virtual realities. But who are they? What is their mission? Will we ever find out? Influenced by Garvey’s fixation on real-time strategy games, the films of Kenneth Anger, Children’s television programmes and Alice in Wonderland, the work is ready to take you on a lusciously colourful adventure.
