I have a mixed media practice with common themes and approaches which underpin and collect together the whole body of work. The backbone of my practice is the writing, which explores word play, double meaning and ordinary experience often through humour and absurdity.
My output is outwardly diverse—figurative clay sculpture, video, text, biscuits, brass plaques—with interwoven themes/commonalities/continuities between the individual works which become evident through their arrangement as installation. Recent experiments have introduced a participatory element in the form of chanting and eating.
Much of my process is rooted in drawing connections. This often manifests in the borrowing of footage and sound from other works, which are reassembled to create meaning.
I try to negotiate the line between private and public by giving clues to a common experience and mutual understanding of the subject matter without leaving myself exposed.
